The National Coalition of Oncology Nurse Navigators (NCONN) promotes excellence in oncology patient care by fostering collaborative relationships and professional development among oncology nurse navigators and all healthcare disciplines locally, regionally and nationally. Oncology nurse navigators act as patient educators and advocates, care coordinators, health system navigators, and community ambassadors with the goal of improving the cancer experience for each patient. The nurse navigators provide a support system for the patient and his/her family at a critical, including navigating patients through the diagnostic evaluation, educating and supporting each patient, empowering them to make informed treatment decisions, and remaining a support system throughout the patient's cancer treatment .
