Founded in 1986, the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) is a private, not-for-profit association which provides educational benefits, emergency assistance and childcare subsidies exclusively to all civilian federal and postal employees and their dependent family members. Known as “Federal Employees Helping Federal Employees”, FEEA helps federal employees through their three signature programs: Annual Scholarship Competition: Annual merit-based competition open only to civilian federal and postal employees, their spouses and college-age children. Awards range from $500-$7,500 for one year. Emergency Assistance Program: Emergency loans are available to help employees who fall behind on basic living expenses (mortgage/rent or utilities) due to unforeseen emergencies such as leave without pay, government pay error, death or illness in the family. Child Care Subsidy Program: FEEA administers a childcare subsidy program for more than two dozen federal agencies. In accordance with Public Law 107-67, federal agencies may use appropriated funds to assist their lower income employees with child care costs - reducing the amount parents pay for childcare through subsidies paid directly to the child care provider. Over the years FEEA has provided over $10 million in scholarships and over $7 million in emergency financial assistance to civilian federal employees in the family. In addition, FEEA has administered over $25 million in childcare subsidy payments to childcare providers on behalf of federal agencies. FEEA’s members/supporters are all civilian federal employees actively contributing to FEEA through donations, participating in FEEA’s scholarship, emergency assistance, and/or childcare subsidy programs or volunteering their time to FEEA’s charitable endeavors.
