The Oncology Nursing Society is the world’s largest professional oncology association serving registered nurses and other healthcare providers dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, research, and administration in oncology nursing. ONS actively supports health policy initiatives that support the nursing workforce, access to care, and prevention and early detection of cancer.
Since its official incorporation in 1975, ONS has become a leader in cancer care. ONS members are a diverse group of professionals who represent a variety of professional roles, practice settings, and subspecialty practice areas such as registered nurses, including staff nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, educators, researchers, and consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
Cancer care changes each and every day. Oncology nurses need to know about everything from new treatments and technologies to changes in managed care and evolving reimbursement policies. The ONS membership list is made available to organizations interested in providing information related to oncology nursing or quality cancer care. All requests are carefully reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. However, the following guidelines are in place for the ONS list: Organizations may not rent or use the ONS mailing list for the distribution or promotion of the following products/services:
1. Membership in any professional association or society.
2. Subscriptions to or distribution of any publications, products, services, or promotions including conference promotions (free or sold) that contain advertising, sponsorship, or support from more than one company.
3. 60-Day Black Out Period: Any such mailings that promote a non-chapter sponsored, national conference* with an event date during any of the following time frames (30 days prior to or following an ONS conference):
- April 13, 2010 – June 15, 2010
- October 12, 2010 – December 14, 2010
(Future ONS conference dates can be found at www.ons.org)
*National conference is defined as any conference/symposium/continuing education opportunity that seeks attendees from more than a 100-mile radius from the conference site.
